National Recovery Council Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that even the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise, the situation still not worrying.
Muhyiddin said that based on our health minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s report, 99% of new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia are in the first and second stages.
“Based on Khairy’s earlier reports, he said that the current situation of the epidemic in our country is still not worrying. Our government hospitals are not under severe pressure compared to before. I think the current situation is still under control,” Muhyiddin said after meeting with the Ministry of Finance yesterday (17th May).
COVID-19 cases data shown increasing
Based on media reports, our country had accumulated 19,137 new cases from May 8 to 14, compared to 8,732 new cases the previous week (May 1 to 7). The data shows an increase of 119.2% in Covid-19 new cases
Our Health Ministry director-general, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham pointed out the development had increased the number of locally transmitted cases by 119.6% (8,703 cases) to a total of 19,108 cases on 14th May, while the imported cases remained at 29 cases.
This brings our country having a total number of 4,475,873 Covid-19 cases, which 29,762 are active cases.
