Just after midnight on Monday, a fire in the Kinabatangan district claimed the life of a kid and injured five other members of his family (Aug 15).

Mohd Adlinsyah Mohd Adsni, a six-year-old boy, is the deceased. One of the rooms contained his burned remains.

He was hurt together with his parents, siblings, and cousin.

Two others, a 77-year-old woman and a three-year-old boy, managed to escape unharmed, according to Misran Bisara, assistant director of operations for the State Fire and Rescue Department.

In a statement, he added, “We received a call about the fire near Kg Perpaduan Jalan Kinabatangan at 12.40am.

“Our teams were dispatched to react. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was already on fire, he added.

According to Misran, the fire was put out around 2.04 am, and operations ended at 3.56 am.

He claimed that before being transferred to the hospital, the injured patients received initial care.

The fire's origin is being looked into.
