Baling Flood

The number of flood victims housed in two temporary evacuation facilities in the Baling area reduced from 31 on Wednesday night to 27 on Thursday morning (August 4).

As of 8 a.m. Thursday, according to the deputy chief of the Baling Civil Defence Force, Lt. (PA) Mohd Dzulhaidy Khalil, 13 persons from four families were still being housed at SK Tengku Habsah, while 14 casualties from three families were at Dewan Tun Abdul Razak.

“Another family of three persons went home last night, increasing the total number of victims remaining at the two relief centres opened since Tuesday, August 2 to 27 people from seven families.

“The victims who are still in relief centres have not yet gone home since their homes have not been cleaned,” he said in a statement released Thursday. “If they are ready, all the victims will return to their individual homes today, and the relief centres will be closed,” he said.

Several residences in Mukim Baling, Mukim Bakai, and Mukim Siong were flooded after more than an hour of heavy rain on Tuesday evening. – Bernama
