The live shopping trend is becoming popular in the United States, and major companies are trying to grab seats. However, Meta has announced that it will suspend Instagram live shopping feature from March and will not allow creators to tag products in the live stream.
The suspension of Instagram live shopping will not affect operation of stores
Hong Kong Economic Times, citing online media TechCrunch, Meta will suspend live shopping on IG on March 16, and IG users will not be able to mark items during live streaming. However, this feature’s suspension will not prevent users from opening and operating stores on IG. Businesses can continue to operate but cannot directly tag products.
Meta said they would focus on advertising. If businesses want to promote their products, they can do so in Stories, Feeds, or Reels.
